The Khwaja Parsa Mosque, Balkh, northern Afghanistan, built by Mir Mazid Arghun in 1467 and being restored by the
Aga Khan Trust for Culture
in 2016.
To rebuild the mosque the AKTC had to build a school to teach the lost arts of glazing right back as far as the hand-grinding of the earths and elements which make the
blue glaze.
The photographs were used in the book 'Afghanistan: Preserving Historic Heritage' (AKTC) 2017.
