Spring thaw on the flanks of the Karymsky Volcano. A winter of snowfall interspaced with ash puffed from the volcano and then the whole lot melted through by the thin spring sunshine creates a bizarre
posterised
effect.

Somewhere in this picture can be seen the tiny footprints of a Kamchatka Brown Bear. There are no humans out walking in the vast empty
wilderness
of Kamchatka in Russia's (very, very) Far East.
